Our investment - Your opportunity

Genomics - the study of DNA sequences, function analysis of genes and the processing of generated data with bioinformatics - is in the midst of radical change. Thanks to the latest technologies, breakthroughs in for instance plant and animal breeding, crop protection and the food and pharmaceutical industry are occurring at a bewildering pace. Each of these innovations, however, requires substantial investments. We have already made these investments for you, and integrated them with our extensive know-how. That is why more and more companies, institutions and universities choose to outsource their DNA analyses to Greenomics™.

Greenomics™, a facility of the Wageningen University and Research Centre, is specialised in the analysis of DNA.

This work is performed via the very latest and most powerful technologies, and we are one of Europe's pioneers in the use of ultra-high throughput (ABI Prism 3700) DNA sequencers. With a throughput ten times that of the former generation of sequencers, our lab can determine the sequence of more than 1.5 million nucleotides each and every day.
This enormous capacity means Greenomics™ can offer clients unprecedented speed and efficiency - the sequencing of the total DNA of a bacterium, for example, now takes a matter of months rather than years.

Robots and bioinformatics
In order to optimise sample analysis and the processing of results, investments have been made in robots and in computer systems with powerful bioinformatics software. As a result, the isolation of DNA and sequencing reactions is now completely automated. The software enables us to reconstruct the rough sequences to the original DNA and offers extra analyses of each DNA sequence.

In addition, Greenomics™ has access to DNA micro-array facilities for the functional analysis of genes. By integrating these facilities with our know-how, we can provide results far faster than before as well as carry out research that was previously impossible to perform. Moreover, our clients' research programs benefit in terms of both cost-effectiveness and savings in time.

World-wide reputation
As a part of Plant Research International, Greenomics™ personnel has a global reputation in the fields of plant physiology, plant diseases, cell and molecular biology and genetics. This expertise is used to distil practical advice from the information you provide - all with a guarantee of absolute confidentiality.

Product innovation and competitiveness
The generated data and advice not only provides serious added value to your research effort. It will also significantly enhance your organisation's competitive edge by gaining faster leads for product innovation.

As a result, breeding companies can carry out selections more quickly, the crop protection industry can develop novel products in a more targeted way, food technologists can utilise more innovative power and researchers can expand their programmes. We look forward to discussing with you the many possibilities on offer at Greenomics™ and to developing services and applications fully customised to your needs.
